The Committee

1st London Committee

The club is managed by a committee composed of volunteers and every June a new committee is elected to run the club. If you have any questions about the club or would like to join, please feel free to speak to one of the committee members at a meeting.

Club President Judy
President

Judy joined the club in 2016 to conquer her fear of public speaking. She immediately felt at home with 1st London and loved the fun, supportive and friendly atmosphere. She took a short break but came back to the club to restart her public speaking journey. On renewing her membership, Judy wanted to give something back to the club being President and Sergeant at Arms allows her to do that and also gives her a chance to indulge her love of people and seeing
them grow.

“What we fear doing most is usually what we most need to do.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Vice President of Membership

Ruban has been an active member of Toastmasters since 2016 and joined 1st London in late 2018 after transferring from his first club in Birmingham. He first joined to help overcome his fears around stuttering but now we can’t get rid of him! If you’re lucky, you may spot Ruban running around the streets of London every so often but if not, you’ll most likely find him drinking coffee at a hipster cafe.

When life gives you lemonade, make lemons. Life will be like “whaatt?!”” – Phil Dunphy

Vice President of Education Yue Wu
Vice President of Education

Yue Wu works in technology consulting and joined the club in the middle of 2021 seeking to improve her public speaking and presentation skills. Yue has improved in both confidence and public speaking skills, thanks to 1st London Toastmasters and its supportive members who always encourage members to be themselves and to keep trying. Yue also loves travelling and diving. However, a fun fact about her is she cannot swim.

“Meanings are not determined by situations, but we determine ourselves by the meanings we give to situations.– Alfred Adler
